My Dream Business

I HAVE long wanted to start a business and I now feel a stronger urge to get it started. I really believe that I have an entrepreneurial spirit in me but I hardly have the perfect chance to embark on one. I have many considerations and let me share to you what I am thinking about.

Getting an Edge in the Competition

The kind of business that I think fits my skills and interest has something to do with printing, graphic designing, and advertising. I have conceptualized a business that puts together my skills and interest in photography, lay-outing, and writing.

However, I have some second thoughts. There is already a shop close to my target location that offers about the same kind of services. So,  I thought of making mine a little different from what was already there. What will make my services unique?

The Red Tape

I want a legal business, of course, Problem is, I have not experienced filing a business permit. I have heard, it is going to be tedious process here in the country and that it usually costs a lot. That will be then be added to my initial capital. That makes it a little harder for me to set everything in motion.

Trustworthy Staff

Another problem of mine is staffing. I have a current day job and I have no plans of quitting anytime soon. I want to keep my day job but I plan to just supervise my business. So, I need someone to look after my business while I do my day job. And I need someone who is trustworthy enough.

Enough Capital

A printing business requires a considerable amount of capital for machines and raw materials. Although I have slowly established some materials for the business, I still need more if I plan to go big time. I’m sure there are small business loans out there that can provide me with capital and I’m sure it would not be very difficult to source out fund for my business. There’s a company in the US called Kabbage, or cabbage, that provides money to help people grow their business.

I believe that one day I will be able to attain that dream.

Simbang Gabi

MILLIONS OF Filipinos in the world today will start going to the church early morning each day to continue the tradition of Simbang Gabi. Catholics will attend a holy mass celebrated before dawn breaks. It is believed that completing the nine holy masses starting later until Christmas eve, one’s wish will be granted.

Although I am not a Catholic, I love this tradition for the simple reason that a lot of people begin to pay attention to their spirituality. Some might just be doing this as an annual routine, the opportunity to hear God’s word and to come across one of God’s miracles is always there.

The first Simbang Gabi I attended was in Marbel, when I was still a high school student. It was the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) then. Last week, I was able to go back to Marbel also for RSPC and, again, visited St. Anthony de Padua Parish. The church looked very different — stunningly beautiful — due to the recent renovation. I took some snapshots to show you how I’d love to attend at least one Simbang Gabi there.

The cool graphics was done was Miguel Fonacier. Aethen Agana asked me to do the layout for this poster yesterday and I worked on it for about an hour and well, you can see how I messed up with the original design. Haha.

Anyway, the concert features the hottest bands in Cebu: Hastang, Melophobic, Skankin’ Brews, Who’s Next, Nyor, and Santing Scalawags.

If you are in Cebu on September 3, drop by The Outpost for some music and charity.

The Tee Ministry

I HAVE started my small venture at home. Although I know I could eventually earn from it, my other goals do not involve money.

First, I want to explore the world of entrepreneurship. I used to sell a variety of products before, but this time, I am formally embarking on an entrepreneurial venture, which I am putting up little by little. Secondly, I want to put to use the skills that I managed to learn in the recent years. A lover of both art and technology, I have been so engrossed with digital art. Now, you know what my small business is about. And ultimately, I want to give glory to God. Hence, the birth of The Tee Ministry.

The Tee Ministry is my collection of original T-shirt designs that each bear a Christian message. It is, in a way, a means of spreading the good news to the mainstream public. MunaTo 2009: The Pride of Sarangani’s Tri-People

THE MUNATO Festival of Sarangani is inspired by the anthropomorphic secondary burial jars found in Ayub Cave in Maitum, Sarangani Province. Carbon dating proved that these relics existed since the Metal Age.

Here are other photos I took using my cellphone at the Fabli Go Ni Trade Fair inside the Provincial Capitol Compound, Alabel, Sarangani Province.
