Photos from the Fluvial Parade in Bula, General Santos City

IT’S ONLY on January 15 that you would see over 300 fishing vessels cruising Sarangani Bay in a seemingly choreographed manner. That’s all because of the Feast of Sto. Niño,  the patron saint of the people of Bula, General Santos City.

Not your ordinary day out with the kids. This father takes his kids out into the Sarangani Bay where fishing vessels wait for the fluvial parade to start.

One thing is sure– this man is a Kobe Bryant fan or at least one of his kin is. Devotees usually dress up their Niños during the feast, and this man chose a yellow Lakers jersey.

Finding a boat to ride during the fluvial parade is a difficult task. You are a chance passenger. No, it’s worse. You are a chance passenger who faces the risk of getting drowned. Your “pakura” (a banca) might just get overturned by the waves or unbalanced distribution of weight. You better be sure you know how to swim. Moreover, should you be lucky enough to find a vessel that will let you in, it might just be as crowded as this.

Photos for Our School Website

I AM currently working on our school website, which we will be launching on the 24th during our Dinner-for-a-Cause, a fund-raising activity for our proposed covered court.

The domain http://www.rshsxii.edu.ph was purchased by the Computer and Student Entrepreneurs Club, while the hosting was donated by Mr. Jerome Babate, who provides consultancy services.

The site is actually a WordPress installation. I used PageLines as a theme, which provided me with a drag-and-drop interface for layout editing. I installed a lot of useful plugins including galleries, among others.

I wanted the front page to be simple. Used non-distracting colors and added only very few elements. Site visitors will be welcomed by a slideshow that introduces the school. I took photos of our students doing laboratory activities, or simply chatting in the corridors on under the trees. I wanted to project the real ambiance of the school. I put together the photos in a wordpress slider.

Here are some of the photos:

I wanted the give the some style. I wanted something as stylish as SlideDeck. You can find SlideDeck information in this link. Well, anyway, I just had to make do with what I was able to download.

As I said, the website will be launched on Sunday and I am excited about it. I asked our school dance troupe to choreograph a dance to the music that I chose —  techno music in piano. I watched them rehearse this afternoon and I am more than glad about what they did. Tomorrow, we will practice with the narrative I wrote to introduce the website to our guests.

Election Campaign Tees

Image

I WAS commissioned by my co-teacher to design and print shirts for the campaign of her daughter who was running for mayor in the Supreme Pupil Government in her school.

They gave me what to print and I created this simple design that shows the name of their party and what it means. DYNAMICS stands for  Diligent, Young, Nationalistic, Active, Magnificent, Intelligent, and Competitive Spedians. Spedians being the name they give to all the pupils and students of their school.

The names of the candidates are written at the back of the shirt.

There is a website where you can run a design contest for logos you can print on your shirt. That way, you can be assured of getting great designs for your tees or even for your own company at a particular cost.

if you have to friends who can help you design a logo or a shirt for you can visit the website and run a contest. Graphic artist from all over the world will make designs for you to choose from. I am actually thinking of submitting my designs so that I could start earning money on the side.

That t-shirt I designed is due tomorrow. We will be printing them tonight so we can deliver the shirts tomorrow.

T-Shirt Design for AMP Mindanao Convention

AMP tshirt design

THE FIRST Mindanao Convention of the Alliance Men Philippines is being held here in Alabel, Sarangani Province starting today, June 2, 2011 until June 4.

I was asked to design a shirt for the convention, whose theme is, “Alliance Men for a Better Mindanao.

I crafted a statement, which signifies the commitment of the participant to contribute to the betterment of Mindanao. (That’s very timely for my post in my personal blog.)

The t-shirt says, “I commit myself (to God and to AMP) for a better Mindanao“.

I used my old photo of the Munato Monument and modified its colors to suit the tshirt design.

We used athletic fabric paints for the shirts on 120 mesh.
